The Northern Interior Mining Group (NIMG) was formed in 2008 by businesses to connect business and mining, with the goal of increasing the range of services/products to support and promote mine development in northern B.C.

Northern B.C. has long been dependent on the forestry and wood product manufacturing industry – an industry that has developed world class sawmills and pulp mills, but has also faced challenging markets. This need to diversify beyond the forest industry lead to the region and the businesses within to look to other viable options, and the most attainable was mining.
